SOC 312 - Sociology of the Family


4 credits
Emphasizes the changes in structure, function, and character of the family resulting from its relationship to the larger society. Compares the contemporary family to historical and cross-cultural forms. Analyzes family issues, such as changing gender roles, divorce, single parents, domestic violence, and new roles for children and aging relatives. May be applied to the Gender, Sexuality and Women’s Studies minor. Prerequisite(s): SOC 204 .
