Emerging Media & Digital Arts, BA/BS

The major in Emerging Media & Digital Arts combines interdisciplinary research and activity with a range of technical skills for the creation and evaluation of digital media. EMDA majors engage in all stages of the production process while working with university and community partners to develop best practices for digital media in our society.

Requirements for the Major
1.
Fulfill baccalaureate degree requirements. 2.
Complete a minimum of 56 credits in EMDA courses and related approved courses with a cumulative grade-point average of 2.75 or better: a. Foundation courses (16 credits)
The four EMDA Foundations courses may be taken in any order. Each Foundation course consists of a lecture and recitation that must be taken together. There are no prerequisites for EMDA Foundations courses.

d. Projects in Digital Media (8 credits)
In Projects in Digital Media, students develop and produce independently-directed work in any combination of media they choose.
e. Capstone Courses (8 credits)
In the Capstone, students continue to develop and produce independently-directed work in accordance with their professional goals.
- EMDA 450 - Capstone 4 credits (Taken during the senior year–must be repeated for 8 credits total)
f. Upper Division Elective Courses (16 credits)
Choose 16 credits of upper division elective courses, 8 of which must have an EMDA prefix. At least 8 credits of the elective courses must be numbered at the 400-level:
