ENG 557 - Postcolonial Literature and Theory 4 credits Focuses on the works of authors from colonized countries, both during the colonial period and after independence. Includes an examination of postcolonial literary and cultural theories and explores the impact of colonization on the production of literature and the importance of literature in the redefinition of the postcolonial nation. Topics may include the politics of exile, the relationship between narration and nationhood, women and postcolonialism, and postcolonial historiographic fiction. Prerequisite(s): ENG 301 or instructor permission. Graded (A-F) only
