An advanced examination of the political and economic history of the United States from the end of the colonial period through the onset of the Great Depression.  Emphasizes the evolution of philosophies of political economy, federal policymaking, the industrial revolution, the role of finance, machine politics, and cycles of boom and bust.  Prerequisite(s): Junior standing or above or HST 250  or HST 251 .
