SOAN 342 - Trans*forming Institutions 4 credits Focuses on the relationships between trans identities and social institutions. Analyzes current issues around trans lives, examining social cultural, and political marginalization. Focuses on normative expectations of institutions and the consequences of these for trans people. Explores the resilience of trans lives through movements challenging institutional standards and envisioning new institutional practices. May count towards the Transgender Studies Certificate, GSWS major, or GSWS minor. * This course was formerly offered under a different number; students who took the following course(s) will not receive additional credit unless the course is stated to be repeatable in the description above: GSWS 314.
