ART 395 - Installation and Site-Specific Art 4 credits This intermediate course focuses on the development of conceptual and technical skills using clay. Students get the opportunity to strengthen their material knowledge as it applies to ceramic sculpture and non functional forms. We discuss formulating clay bodies, glazes, firing kilns, large scale forms, and various traditional and nontraditional ceramic techniques. This course includes a hands-on historical survey of ceramic innovation and creativity from prehistory through contemporary ceramics. Repeatable for a maximum of 16 credits. Prerequisite(s): ART 255 or ART 291 or instructor permission. Grade mode designated on a CRN basis each term. Students should consult current term schedule.
