ED 477 - Honors Multicultural Education


3 credits
Explores concepts, theories, and strategies that constitute major dimensions of multicultural education in American public schools. Examines issues and attitudes regarding race, ethnicity, language, social class, sexuality, and gender. Promotes culturally relevant and responsive teaching and learning communities that respect individual and group differences. Provides multicultural curriculum, methods, and materials for positive interactions with all children and youth. Instructor integrates experiences from the field with the content of the course. Prerequisite(s):  Restricted to juniors or above in the BA/BS in Elementary Education with Honors program. Corequisite(s): ED 309   (Advanced Practicum and Seminar: Multicultural Education - for education majors only).
