Advanced examination of U.S. history from the Nixon era to the present. Emphasizes the effects of Vietnam, the Nixon administration and Watergate, the “malaise” of the 1970s, deindustrialization, globalization, the rise of Reagan and conservatism, the “culture wars,” the end of the Cold War, and emergence of terrorism as a central threat. Prerequisite(s): Junior standing or above or HST 251.
