COMM 460E - Visual Communication 4 credits Provides a comprehensive overview of the diverse frameworks by which we explain, explore and understand visual methods of communication. Students will gain a scientific understanding of visual communication (encompassing biological and cognitive models of vision), plus a social understanding (encompassing interpretation, content analysis, semiotics, discourse analysis and critical perspectives on the production and reception of visual content). This course also addresses changes in the nature of visual communication driven by the digitalization of media in the 21st century. Prerequisite(s): Junior standing or above. Approved for General Education: University Studies - H Strand Grade mode designated on a CRN basis each term. Students should consult current term schedule.
