GSWS 221 - Gender, Race, and Fandoms

How can we simultaneously enjoy and participate in fandoms while reflecting critically on those fan cultures? Using gender and race as critical intersections, we examine the cultural products of fandoms and the ways the politics of gender and race shape fan cultures. We reflect on our own participation as fans, and discuss how we might shape our fan communities.
