SOAN 325 - Topics in Creative and Public Social Science

Because sociology and anthropology are disciplines that study facets of everyday human life, relationships, systems, and symbolic meaning, the products of their work are directly applicable to lay communities and problems outside of academia. Through exploration of one contemporary topic, students will explore ways that sociology and anthropology knowledge, skills, and theories can be creatively applied to bridge divides between academic and public discourse. Students will iteratively develop projects that demonstrate creative and innovative forms of interdisciplinary work and public engagement. Repeatable for up to 12 credits. Prerequisite(s): Sophomore standing or above or instructor approval.
