PSY 487 - Multicultural Psychology 4 credits Considers theory, research, and multicultural perspectives as they relate to applied psychology and helping professions. Students explore their own cultural identities and positionalities; learn about culturally-informed approaches to helping across diverse ethnicities, genders, sexual orientations, and religious backgrounds; and develop skills for challenging biases and confronting stereotypes. Emphasizes issues related to helping professionals in such fields as psychology and human service. Prerequisite(s): Junior standing or above, or instructor approval. Approved for General Education: Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Grade mode designated on a CRN basis each term. Students should consult current term schedule.
