UGS 319 - Speech and Power: American Constitutional Law and Freedom of Expression

Now more than ever, it is critical to understand the laws that govern expression. This course provides foundational knowledge on the First Amendment through the study of constitutional principles, case law, legislation, and regulations. In addition to instruction on substantive law, course curriculum provides a heavy emphasis on logical reasoning through the practice of legal analysis, research, and writing. Although students will experience academic aspects unique to a law school education, the skills and knowledge obtained from this course are transferable to other scholarly, professional, and personal endeavors.  (Cross-listed PS 319 ).
