ES 420 - Environment, Culture, and Society


4 credits
Examines the relationship between the human social institutions we create and the biophysical environments in which we live. Topics may include the relationships between nature and culture, political ecology, environmental issues as social problems, construction of environmental risk, environmental activism, climate justice, public attitudes and values in relation to the environment, collaborative and community-based resource management, and environmental problem-solving. Prerequisite(s): SOAN 204Z  or SOAN 206Z  or SOAN 213  or ES 103  and junior standing or instructor consent. (Cross-listed with SOAN 420 )
