ES 480 - Fire Ecology

Studies the effects of fire (both natural and anthropogenic) on ecological, social, and economic systems. Examines the effects of human intervention in natural fire cycles and the use of fire as a tool in conservation and resource management. Focuses primarily on forested ecosystems of the Pacific Northwest, but includes a global overview of fire and current research into probable effects of global climate change on fire regimes. Prerequisite(s): ES 102 or BI 222Z and BI 340 or ES 340.
