SPED 514a - Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment (Initial Licensure) 4 credits Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment-SPED introduces candidates to the study of instructional processes by focusing on several INTASC Standards: Standard #1: Learner Development; #2 Learning Differences; #3 Learning Environments; #4 Content Knowledge; Standard #6: Assessment; and #7 Planning for Instruction. Emphasis is placed on knowledge of standards-based education and the implementation of the “Oregon Education Act for the 21st Century”; as well as strategies to enhance effective learning and teaching in regular and special education settings. Special attention will be given to creating effective learning experiences for diverse learners and understanding general education curriculum and instruction. Prerequisite(s): Must be admitted to the Special Education Initial Licensure Concentration, or with approval of Program Coordinator. Graded (A-F) only.
