SPED 521a - Collaboration, Consultation and Communication (initial Licensure) 4 credits Candidates will be able to identify and define a multi-tiered model of service delivery, essential components for establishing school wide systems of academic and behavior support, and the role of the special education teacher in this system. Candidates will gain an understanding of approaches to effective collaboration with community agencies, parents, teachers, and paraeducators. Candidates will identify concerns specific to students from diverse cultures, be able to discriminate between issues of culture and disability, and define supports that will assist all students from diverse backgrounds to be successful in an educational environment. Graded (A-F) only.
