SPED 517 - Student Teaching half day (initial licensure) 6 credits Student Teaching is the winter field experience for the candidate finishing the Initial Licensure Special Education Concentration. It is a full-day student teaching experience, and is designed to give the candidate maximum opportunity to direct and manage the special education setting to which they are assigned. When appropriate, the candidate should assume total responsibility for dealing with student instruction, scheduling, management and mainstreaming, as well as dealing with classroom assistants, parents, volunteers, and regular education staff whenever possible. It is expected that the candidate will attend and participate in before or after school activities, such as IEP, staff and pre-referral meetings. The candidate must demonstrate competence in all areas of special education, including assessment, instruction, planning, and evaluation.
Prerequisite(s): Designed for students in the MAT initial SPED Licensure Concentration. Grade mode designated on a CRN basis each term. Students should consult current term schedule.
