CCJ 490 - Capstone - Research or Field Experience 4 credits This course provides students with the opportunity to synthesize, integrate, and apply their knowledge of criminal justice theories, methods, laws, and policies to contemporary issues. Students may choose between two distinct paths:
1. Research Track - Students will conduct an original, independent research project culminating in a professional-level research paper and oral presentation.
2. Field Experience Track - Students will engage in structured involvement within criminal justice or related fields, completing supervised work hours while analyzing organizational structure, mission, ethical considerations, and professional writing.
A minimum of 120 supervised work hours is required for 4 credits.
Class is repeatable up to 8 credits. Restricted to CCJ majors only.
(Course will be offered as a hybrid for both on-campus and online students) Prerequisite(s): Completion of all lower-division CCJ required courses, CCJ 301 , CCJ 302 , and at least senior standing (with 135 overall credits. Graded (A-F) only
