SOC 340 - Sociology of Gender


4 credits
Analyzes theory and research on the social production and maintenance of gender. Includes gender role socialization, concepts of femininity and masculinity, and the construction of gender in family, work, popular culture, and other social institutions. Addresses the impact of race and class on experiences of gender. Considers how feminist and men’s movements have influenced changes in gender relations. May be applied to the women’s studies minor. Approved for University Studies (Integration).Prerequisite(s): SOC 204 .
