ED 477 - Honors Multicultural Education 3 credits Explores concepts, theories, and strategies that constitute major dimensions of multicultural education in American public schools. Examines issues and attitudes regarding race, ethnicity, language, social class, sexuality, and gender. Raises cultural awareness, sensitivity, and competence. Provides instructional methods, materials and curriculum for positive interactions with children and youth. Promotes learning communities that respect individual and group differences. Examines dimensions of multicultural education including content integration, knowledge construction, prejudice reduction, equity pedagogy, and empowering school culture. Restricted to students in the BA/BS Elementary Education with Honors program.
