3 credits Examines the principles of formation and identification of crystals of different compositions, structures, and physical properties. Explores characterization and identification of common rock-forming minerals, as well as those that are economically important. Two lectures and one 3-hour laboratory. Prerequisite(s): G 103; CH 201, CH 204 or CH 100 or concurrent enrollment in either course; MTH 111 or concurrent enrollment Corequisite(s): G 318L.
