TA 227 - Voice and Speech for the Stage II 4 credits Provides a study of the actor’s vocal instrument. Develops an understanding of the basic physical structure, the mechanics of the voice, and the production of sound. Explores the importance of vivid understanding of language and imagery to fulfill the expressive needs of the text. Exercises concentrate on natural breathing, relaxed body alignment, and emotional connection while cultivating resonant vocal production. Includes the creation of a basic vocal warmup that is adaptable to individual needs and situations. Prerequisite(s): TA 221 . Restricted to Theatre BFA majors. * This course was formerly offered under a different number; students who took the following course(s) will not receive additional credit unless otherwise noted: TA 224.
