Studio Art Option Lower Division
(44 credits in art and art history) Foundation/Introduction to Studio Practices
(28 credits)
The lower division studio requirements provide students with a conceptual and technical foundation in the arts and expose students to a variety of approaches to the creative process. During their freshman and sophomore years, studio art majors must take an introductory course in each of the studio areas offered by the department.
Studio Art Option Upper Division
(36 credits)
Junior year or after completion of lower division prerequisites:
- Art History Elective 4 credits
- ARTH 301 - Research and Writing about Art 4 credits
- Studio concentration (select three upper division courses from one of the following areas: Ceramics, Digital Media, Sculpture, Painting and Drawing, Photography, and Printmaking) 12 credits
- Studio electives (select three upper division courses from one of the following areas: Ceramics, Digital Media, Sculpture, Painting and Drawing, Photography, and Printmaking) 12 credits
- ART 496 - Capstone 4 credits *
Total credits in the major (lower and upper division) 80 credits
*ART 496 fulfills the capstone requirement for the BA/BS. |
