The BA/BS in Art is a studio-intensive program emphasizing mentorship and collaboration amongst a cohort of students and faculty. The Art curriculum is built around five student-centered goals:
- Challenging and expanding each student’s understanding of the creative process.
- Providing students with media-specific technical training.
- Exposing students to a broad range of contemporary and historical art practices as well as a strong background in critical theory.
- Developing an informed professional presence in the world beyond the campus.
- Synthesizing the above - creative process, technique, critical inquiry, and professional goals - into a unique studio practice.

Requirements for the BA/BS in Art:
1.
Fulfill baccalaureate degree requirements.
2.
Maintain a 3.0 GPA for all SOU coursework in the major:
a. Foundations (12 credits)
b. Introduction to Studio Methods (12 credits)
c. Studio Topics (8 credits)
d. Advanced Studio Methods (12 credits)
Choose 12 credits from any combination of the following:
e. Art History (16 credits)
f. Capstone: Senior Studio (12 credits)
