Innovation and Leadership, Bachelor of Science


 

The INL degree is designed for working professionals who have:

  • one to two years of previous college experience
  • work experience beyond entry level
  • a desire to lead, innovate, collaborate, and think creatively

Courses for the INL degree are offered in two modalities.  Students who have 5 years of work experience beyond the entry level can take the face to face 5 week accelerated model and students with less than 5 years of work experience or those who require distance learning can take the 10 week fully on-line version of courses.

Students who graduate with the B.S. in Innovation and Leadership degree program will be able to:

  • Demonstrate increased knowledge of personal and organizational leadership including the application of theories about individual and group behaviors.
  • Apply innovative solutions to organizational systems using modern business analysis techniques, emerging media tools, creativity, and critical thinking skills.
  • Analyze the cultural, ethical, and financial environment in which an organization operates.
  • Demonstrate increased skill in effective communication using a wide range of technological tools, inter-personal skills, design-thinking and writing techniques.

Up to 120 quarter hours may be transferred for credit into the Innovation and Leadership program. The remaining courses may be completed at Southern Oregon University. Students must complete a total of 180 quarter credits with 60 of those credits being at the upper division level.

Requirements for the Major:


Total Credits for BS Degree: 180 credits


 NOTES:

  • Students must have 64 upper division credits to graduate and a total of 180 credits altogether.
  • Students may earn up to 45 credits through CPL (Credit for Prior Learning).
  • Students will need two courses (7 or more credits) in mathematics, designated programming courses, or designated logic courses, earning a C- or better in each in order to fulfill the total 7 or more credits required for the B.S. degree.
  • Some courses in the major requirements have prerequisites.
  • The major requirements courses fulfill University Studies requirements for Integration Strands H, I, and J. (INL/PSY 437 fulfills Strand H; PHL/CS 310 fulfills Strand I; BA 477/IS 370 fulfills Strand J.)
