SOU’s Education Department offers programs for the Principal Administrator License issued by the Oregon Teacher Standards and Practices Commission (TSPC). The PAL Principal Administrator License is a 40-credit, cohort-based program that begins each June and continues for 18 months.
The PAL program is designed to accommodate working professionals through evening, weekend, hybrid, and online courses. The Principal Administrator License program utilizes courses based on the integration of theory and practice coursework accompanied by a 300-hour practicum.
Program prerequisites include a master’s degree, a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0, a teaching license or eligibility to hold a license, and two to three years of teaching experience. An alternative for those students not holding a teaching license is available through a waiver from TSPC and SOU. Students who do not have a master’s degree may enroll concurrently in the Master of Science in Education (MSEd) program. Requirements for the Principal Administrator License program are applied toward the completion of the MSEd program.
