Program Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the BA/BS in Criminal Justice, graduates will:
- Know how the criminal justice system operates and will identify challenges facing the criminal justice system.
- Communicate effectively in written and oral work that reflects knowledge of the discipline and professional behavior.
- Examine personal attitudes, values, and assumptions through the exploration of diverse cultural views, perspectives, and practices to contribute and thrive within a demographically and culturally diverse environment.
- Be able to access and evaluate information to become critical thinkers through the comprehensive exploration of issues and ideas before accepting or formulating an opinion when evaluating issues in criminology and criminal justice.
- Develop the ability to locate, evaluate, and use the information to become independent life-long learners.

Requirements for the Criminal Justice Major
1.
Complete at least 73 credits in the major. 2.
Have earned a 2.4 GPA or above in all CCJ coursework; have earned no lower than a C- in any CCJ coursework. 3.
Fulfill the baccalaureate degree requirements. 4.
Criminal Justice majors are not eligible for the Criminal Justice minor. Criminal Justice Capstone
Criminal Justice majors complete the capstone experience after earning at least 135 credits and finishing at least half of all required upper division coursework. The capstone involves 4 credits of CCJ 490 - Capstone - Research or Field Experience . The internship is usually a field experience appropriate for the student’s projected career, and it can be taken in multiple terms if needed. In the research course the student writes a significant research paper on a criminal justice topic and makes an oral presentation. Required Courses for CCJ Majors
