 Exceptions to the following requirements may be presented to the program chair for consideration.

Lower-division Courses

(8 credits)

• ENG 104z - Introduction to Fiction 4 credits
• ENG 105z - Introduction to Drama 4 credits
• ENG 106z - Introduction to Poetry 4 credits
• ENG 208 - Explorations in Literary Genres 4 credits
• ENG 209 - Literature in the Modern World 4 credits
• ENG 239 - Native American Myth and Culture 4 credits
• ENG 240 - Native American Narratives, Fiction, and Poetry 4 credits
• ENG 245 - Introduction to U.S. Ethnic Literature 4 credits

Upper-division electives

Upper division ENG courses, 48 credits total

• Up to 8 credits from other course prefixes (e.g., 300- or 400-level non-studio CW courses, DCIN 362 , EMDA 302  or EMDA 320 , NAS 331 ) may be applied to the major as upper-division electives with English faculty approval.

• A combined maximum of 8 credit hours of ENG 405 , ENG 407 , and ENG 409  may be applied to the major as upper-division electives.
