Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies, BA or BS


Program Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of a BA/BS in Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies, graduates will be able to:

  • Analyze the intersecting systems of oppression and privilege that shape the experience and disproportionately affect marginalized groups.
  • Practice activism and articulate its relationship to feminist/queer theory.
  • Articulate their own position in relation to issues with which they are engaging.
  • Engage in collaborative work and effectively communicate ideas with others.

Requirements for the GSWS Major


1. Fulfill baccalaureate degree requirements.

2. A minimum of 58 credits in the major, 46 of which must be upper division. All credits earned toward the major must be taken for a letter grade, except GSWS 202.

3. Maintain a minimum 2.7 GPA in courses required for the major.  Students must earn a C- or better in all courses required for the major.

  • Courses taken to meet requirements I - VI above will not also count toward the elective requirement.
