The lower division studio requirements provide students with a conceptual and technical foundation in the arts and expose students to a variety of approaches to the creative process. During their freshman and sophomore years, studio art majors must take an introductory course in each of the studio areas offered by the department.
Mid-Program Review
Upon completion of the lower division studio requirements, students must enroll in, and successfuly complete the mid-program review ART 300 . Upper Division BA/BS Option (36 credits)
Studio Concentration Areas: Ceramics, Digital Media, Sculpture, Painting and Drawing, Photography, and Printmaking
ART HISTORY (8 credits) - ARTH 301 - Research and Writing about Art 4 credits
- ARTH electives: 4 credits of 300- or 400-level (many upper division art history courses also fulfill University Studies Integration requirements)
STUDIO (28 credits) - Studio concentration: 12 credits in one studio area
- Studio electives: 12 credits in any combination of studio courses
- ART 496 - BA/BS Studio Art Capstone 4 credits Capstone in concentration area, 4 credits (taken in winter quarter of senior year)
