3 credits A detailed theoretical study of the macroscopic behavior and microscopic structure of matter using mathematical models. Topics include real and ideal gases, kinetic-molecular theory of gases, and the development and application of thermodynamics to problems of chemical interest. Three lectures. Prerequisite(s): Both CH 223 and CH 229 or both CH 203 and CH 206, MTH 252, and PH 221, PH 222, and PH 223. Corequisite(s): CH 371. Grade mode designated on a CRN basis each term.
