COMM 460B - Communication and Third-World Development

Explores the strategic application of communication technologies and practices to effect social and economic change in third-world nations and regions. Includes historical, theoretical, and practical exploration of the field of development communication; critical responses to dominant paradigms of development; and emergent or alternative approaches to development and communication that seek empowerment, participation, social justice, and cultural autonomy in marginalized or impoverished communities throughout the world. Approved for University Studies (Integration -  Strand I). Grading option designated on a CRN basis each term. Students should consult current term schedule. Restricted to Juniors and above. Prerequisite(s): COMM 300   or approved equivalent.
