CS 459 - Operating Systems

Explores operating systems and components, operating characteristics, user services, and limitations. Covers implementation techniques for processing input-output and interrupt handling; overall structure of multiprogramming systems or multiprocessor configurations; and details of addressing techniques, core management, file system design and management, system accounting, and other user-related services. Grading option designated on a CRN basis each term. Students should consult current term schedule. Restricted to Juniors and above. Prerequisite(s): CS 411.
