ED 571 - Inclusion Strategies


2-3 credits
Surveys the foundations of special education, including historical and philosophical perspectives, legal issues, and current trends in instruction and programming. Explores the role of the teacher as related to the exceptional child in the general education classroom. Emphasizes developing knowledge of various conditions of exceptionalities, available resources, and educational alternatives through a “learning styles” and case studies approach, with particular emphasis on working with students with exceptional needs in the general classroom. Strategies for including exceptional students will provide a foundation for pre-service teachers in developing differentiated materials and activities. Repeatable for a maximum of 6 credits. Grading option designated on a CRN basis each term. Students should consult current term schedule. Must be eligible to take Graduate level coursework.
