MUS 443 - Composition Survey


3 credits
Develops various compositional techniques by composing short, focused works and listening, discussing, and analyzing music. Techniques are discovered by listening and analyzing music from diverse traditions such as Gregorian chant to Noh Drama, from Gamelan to minimalist, from Bach to Cage, and from India to Africa. Grading option designated on a CRN basis each term. Students should consult current term schedule. Restricted to Junior standing and above. Prerequisite(s): MUS 223 , MUS 226 , and completion of piano proficiencies
