COMM 341 - Remix Culture

Examines acts of creative repurposing - the mashing, meme-ing, sampling, hacking and sharing of pre-existing content toward modified ends. Students will explore and participate in different remix practices, including visual essays, found footage videos and audio mashups, while interrogating the legal, artistic and cultural implications of these practices in the process. Grading option designated on a CRN basis each term. Students should consult current term schedule. Prerequisite(s): EMDA 201 or EMDA 202 or COMM 215 or EMDA 203 or EMDA 204 or EMDA 361 .
