ARTH 200 - Art History and Visual Studies 4 credits Introduces students to the key terms, practices, and modes of artistic practice as well as the fundamental methodologies of art history and visual studies. Key topics include: shifting definitions of art in a global context; representation, symbols, and iconography; art and power; the body and the politics of representation; art, ritual, and the sacred; and art and popular culture. Approved for University Studies Explorations-Strand E. Prerequisite(s): Restricted to art majors.
