G 431 - Igneous and Metamorphic Petrology


4 credits
Examines igneous and metamorphic rocks using geochemical analysis, hand specimen identification, and the petrographic (polarizing) microscope. Such data is used to describe chemical and rock fabric relationships and infer petrologic genesis. Field trips required. Two lectures and two 3-hour laboratories.Prerequisite(s): G 319 . CH 203 , CH 206  recommended.
