TA 224 - Voice and Speech for the Stage I


4 credits
Provides a beginning study of an actor’s vocal instrument through an understanding of the basic physical structure, the mechanics of the voice, and the production of sound. Explores the importance of vivid understanding of language and imagery to fulfill the expressive needs of the text. Exercises concentrate on natural breathing, relaxed body alignment, and emotional connection while cultivating resonant vocal production and muscular articulation skills. Includes the creation of a basic vocal warmup that is adaptable to individual needs and situations.Prerequisite(s): TA 247  or instructor consent.Corequisite(s): TA 210  and TA 248 .
