COMM 460B - Communication and Third-World Development 4 credits Explores the strategic application of communication technologies and practices to effect social and economic change in third-world nations and regions. Includes historical, theoretical, and practical exploration of the field of development communication; critical responses to dominant paradigms of development; and emergent or alternative approaches to development and communication that seek empowerment, participation, social justice, and cultural autonomy in marginalized or impoverished communities throughout the world. Approved for University Studies (Integration - Strand I). Prerequisite(s): COMM 300 or approved equivalent. Sophomore standing or above. Grade mode designated on a CRN basis each term.
