Musical Theatre Minor

The Musical Theatre minor is intended to develop proficiency in all three areas of Musical Theatre – singing, acting, and dance – and is open to all SOU students regardless of their major.

Prerequisites for declaring the Minor

One from the following:
MUS 100 - Music Fundamentals 3 credits
or
MUS 121 - Music Theory I 3 credits
or
MUS 192 - Class Lessons in Piano 2 credits
One from the following:
TA 246 - Introduction to Acting 4 credits
or
TA 270 - Acting Aesthetics 4 credits
or
TA 281 - Acting I: Beginning Acting 4 credits

Requirements:

MUP 170 - Applied Music 2 credits each (4 credits required)
or
TA 129 - Singing for Musical Theatre 4 credits
TA 157 - Introduction to Musical Theatre Dance 3 credits
or
TA 257 - Musical Theatre Dance 3 credits
Two from the following:
TA 189 - Tap Dance I 3 credits
TA 192 - Ballet I 2 credits
TA 193 - Jazz I 2 credits
TA 289 - Tap Dance II 3 credits
TA 293 - Ballet II 2 credits
TA 295 - Jazz II 2 credits
All of the following:
TA 357A - Musical Theatre Workshop I 4 credits
TA 357B - Musical Theatre Workshop II 4 credits
TA 358 - Auditioning for Musical Theatre 4 credits
