STAT 243Z - Elementary Statistics I 4 credits A first course in statistics focusing on the interpretation and communication of statistical concepts. Introduces exploratory data analysis, descriptive statistics, sampling methods and distributions, point and interval estimates, hypothesis tests for means and proportions, and elements of probability and correlation. Technology will be used when appropriate. Prerequisite(s): MTH 65 (with a B- or better) or MTH 95 (with a C- or better) or higher-level math course (with a C- or better) or appropriate SOU placement level. Approved for General Education: Numerical Literacy Capacity, University Studies - D Strand * This course was formerly offered under a different number; students who took the following course(s) will not receive additional credit unless the course is stated to be repeatable in the description above: MTH 243 Grade mode designated on a CRN basis each term.
