GSWS 210 - Violence Prevention 4 credits Examine violence prevention, particularly focused on the prevention of intimate partner violence and sexual violence, using an intersectional framework that addresses relationships between gender, sexuality, race, Indigeneity, and disability with violence prevention work. Students learn about structural causes of these types of violence, examine the ways that intersecting categories relate to experiences of violence and violence prevention, and learn about models of violence prevention both broadly and locally in our own community through our partnership with a local violence prevention organization. Through this local partnership, students also develop projects that help to prevent intimate partner and/or sexual violence in our community, using feminist, queer, anti-racist, decolonial, and disability justice frameworks. Approved for General Education: Creativity & Innovation Capacity, University Studies - F Strand Grade mode designated on a CRN basis each term. Students should consult current term schedule.
