ES 545 - Agroecology


4 credits
Agroecology explores the ecological principles used in developing a holistic and integrated management approach to sustainable agriculture. Students will be exposed to the biotic and abiotic systems that impact the function of agricultural systems. In
addition, students will learn how to use observation and experimentation to inform management decisions based on agroecological principles. Completion of BI 340  (Ecology) is recommended but not required. Coursework will include both traditional lecture-style classroom participation and hands-on labs at The Farm at SOU. Prerequisite(s): ES 102  or BI 213 .
