SOAN 337 - Racial and Ethnic Relations 4 credits Emphasizes the inequitable relationship between socially defined majority and marginalized groups. Examines the similarities and differences between racial, ethnic, and class modes of stratification, comparing U.S. ethnic relations with ethnic relations in other countries. Covers political and ideological factors associated with attempts to transform traditional ethnic relationships. Explores ethnic and racial identity formation. May count towards the Ethnic & Racial Studies minor. Prerequisite(s): SOAN 204 or SOC 204 or SOAN 213 or ANTH 213 and sophomore standing or above.
